The University of the Philippines Open University (Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, UPOU or UP Open University) supports distance education.


Established in 1995, the University of the Philippines Open University (Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, UPOU) seeks to provide wider access to quality higher education in Philippines. As noted on its web site:

Through the distance education provided by the UPOU, the University will be able to respond better to the demand for quality higher education especially in areas which do not have a University of the Philippinescampus.


It seeks to lead in open and distance learning (ODL) in the Asian region.


The UPOU main office is in Los Baños, Laguna, the Philippines. Other campuses are located in Diliman, , Manilla, Visayas, Mindanao and Baguio .
