The Open University of Sudan (Jameat El Sudan El Maftuha, OUS) was founded in 2002 by the Sudanese Council of Ministers in order to:

...extend the range of the Higher Education Revolution, and to complement the capacity of its institutions to adapt to the social, economic and educational conditions of higher education seekers, and in pursuit of the desire to liberate higher education from the limitations of time and place,

It is based in Khartoum, Sudan.

The Open University of Sudan web site is at http://www.ous.edu.sd/. Note that no English language site seems to be available.


More details

OUS uses Moodle, as noted from their web site http://www.ousmoodle.com/ar/ (there is no /en/ site). Evidence from the site http://portal.ousmedia.com/ suggests that OUS runs radio and TV channels and that internet delivery is supported.

There appear (see http://africa.msu.edu/AUP/facList.php?id=3317) to be four Faculties/programmes:

  1. Programme of Computer Science
  2. Programme of Education
  3. Programme of English
  4. Programme of Management
