Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), formerly the Andhra Pradesh Open University, is located in Hyderabad, India. It offers 200 study centres across the state of Andhra Pradesh. It was formed in 1982.

Dr. BRAOU learning materials are largely print based, supported by regular radio and TV broadcasts. it is not clear on first glance what role - if any - is played by e-learning.

The university offers higher education opportunities to those for whom it might not otherwise be an option, especially women, working professionals, and the socially/geographically disadvantaged.
