As of April 1, 2005, British Columbia Open University (BCOU) became a part of the newly created Thompson Rivers University (TRU), located in Kamloops, British Columbia (Canada). From this date, BCOU is known as Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning or TRU Open Learning (TRU-OL).

TRU-OL continues all of the programmes and services currently offered by BCOU.

TRU Open Learning maintained its operations in Burnaby until relocation to the main TRU Kamloops campus in June 2007.
