The Open University of Malaysia (Open University Malaysia, OUM) was established in August 2000 by a consortium of 11 public universities in Malaysia. Although incorporated as a private university, the University 'leverages on the quality, prestige and capabilities of its strategic partners'. Its open and distance learning (ODL) mode targets working adults with lifelong learning aspirations. In 2006 OUM had over 38,000 students in 41 academic programmes.

OUM is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It offers 61 learning centres throughout the country, of which 10 are regional learning centres.
