Country codes

From Researching Virtual Initiatives in Education

Jump to: navigation, search

To search for a country, find it below and double-click on the country name if it is in blue. If it is in black then the country is not in the list of Countries which we use. (If a code is in red, this signifies an error.)

A country-like name in italics - like Ascension Island - is not a country, being a former country, part of a country, unpopulated (no permanent resident community) or a statistical convenience.

Alternatively, you can type the country name into the search box - or type in the ISO country code from the list below.

Country codes are defined by the international standard ISO 3166. These codes are also the ones used for URLs - top-level domains in the World Wide Web.

A completely up to date list of all codes (including some not for currently existing countries in our sense) can be found at http://www.iso.org/iso/english_country_names_and_code_elements
