From Researching Virtual Initiatives in Education

Jump to: navigation, search

The Virtual Campus for A Sustainable Europe (VCSE) was selected to participate in the the Erasmus Virtual Campuses in 2006. It is co-funded under the eLearning 2006 Program (2007-2009), European Commission, DG Education and Culture, Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).

According to its own project description, VCSE is based on two pillars: reinforcing the role of virtual mobility for teachers and students, and specialized e-learning courses and workshops for representatives of local, regional and national governance (decision-makers) and social partners (opinion-creators).

The main objectives of the Virtual Campus for a Sustainable Europe as of 2006 were:

  • To enlarge the VCSE with new partner universities (from 5 to 15 universities)
  • To disseminate the VSCE-model to other universities (25 universities)
  • To create “e-learning networks for sustainable development”, by involving local “actors” and decision-makers at partner-university’s countries (5 countries)
