University College University of Maine SystemFrom Researching Virtual Initiatives in EducationThe University College University of Maine System supports learning on-site, online, via video conference and via video stream at learning centres throughout the state of Maine, US. As noted on their web site:
University College offers access to courses and programs from the seven public Maine universities at more than 40 locations and online. There are more than 3,000 students enrolled, all working towards degrees through University College Outreach Centres. Students are encouraged to take online and interactive television (ITV) courses in person at learning centres, with other learners. Streamed and videoconference courses are broadcast live by faculty from Maine's public universities or Community Colleges, and all are eligible for credit. To take a videconference course a student must be able to travel weekly (at least) to a University of Maine System campus, a University College Centre, University College of Bangor, the Hutchinson Centre in Belfast (Maine) or Lewiston-Auburn College.
