Technikon SA (Technikon South Africa, TSA) merged with University of South Africa (UNISA Online Campus) on 1 January 2004. See UNISA Online Campus for more information. Currently, Technikons are being renamed to Universities of Technology, resulting in several institutes of education merging to form new universities.

Technikon SA, is the largest institution for career-related tertiary education in Southern Africa, offers something special, the opportunity to qualify in a chosen career no matter where the student lives or works. To enroll to this university (distance learning), the student has to go to Florida or one of the 23 regional offices throughout the country. All Technikon SA's distance courses are designed so that students can study on their own. Contact sessions provide the opportunity to discuss work with tutors and fellow students. Many students set up study groups with others who live or work near them. Increasingly Technikon SA is making use of technology to assist in student support, and in time to come this will include study material online.

The Technikon SA web site was at http://www.tsa.ac.za but is now defunct.
