The Al-Madinah International University main office is in Selangor, Malaysia. The university was founded in 2006. A relatively new school, MEDIU has gained popularity quickly, with almost 3000 applicants as of autumn 2008. Students are from varied countries such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Its web site notes that MEDIU students use an "Advanced Learning & Interactive Management System" (ALIMs). Studies may include web-based assignments and quizzes, moderated by lecturers and tutors. Group discussions are facilitated, and academic progress monitored. A physical "learning centre" allows face-to-face meetings and purchase of textbooks and CDs.
