The Peoples Open Access Educational Initiative (Peoples-Uni) offers enrolment in certificate, diploma and single course modules, using a volunteer business model supplemented by a fee of US$50 per course module. It aims to provide an educational context to the use of OER for capacity building in Public Health (in low- to middle-income countries).

Peoples-uni was registered in January 2007 as an approved UK charity (# 1126265). It is coordinated by Professor Dick Heller, until recently Professor of Public Health at the University of Manchester, UK. Staff members include more than 80 individuals from 24 different countries. Oversight is undertaken by an International Advisory Group, as well as an educational oversight and Quality Assurance group.

The Peoples-uni web site is at http://peoples-uni.org/
